Job summary

WV Department of Human Services is seeking an advanced technical expert to ensure the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) implementation across a District Office area. The role conducts EPA-mandated Sanitary Surveys of public water systems, evaluating source, treatment, distribution, storage, and operator compliance, and documents findings in comprehensive reports.

The position is field-based and requires on-call 24/7/365 for emergency response and disaster relief, providing technical assistance,

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent paid professional experience in the specialty area.

Responsibilities

• Perform Sanitary Surveys of public water systems (PWSs) and document observations and deficiencies.
• Provide routine and emergency technical assistance to PWS operators.
• Assist in teaching PWS operator training courses and participate in investigations.
• Advise public officials, engineers, and operators on best public health practices; may testify as an expert witness.
