Job summary

Cherokee Federal is seeking an Environmental Technician II to support the Environmental Division of the Directorate of Public Works at Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX. The role focuses on compliance, inspections, trainings, and data management across programs such as Spill Prevention and Countermeasures and Petroleum Storage Tanks.

The position offers full-time employment with benefits, and starting salary in the $50,000–$60,000 range, depending on experience.

Qualifications

Must have working knowledge of Steel Tank Institute S001 and American Petroleum Institute 653.
Must have OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and 8-hour refreshers.
Texas and New Mexico Class A and B Operator certifications preferred.
Ability to lift 25+ pounds or provide suitable lifting equipment.
Climb ladders and work in extreme desert conditions in summer and winter.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and conduct unsupervised compliance audits for conformity with regulations.
Collect GIS vector data for environmental infrastructure.
Write inspection reports with deficiencies, photos, citations and corrective actions.
Inspect facilities annually for POL storage and related components.
Support PST, SW and SPCC trainings at multiple facilities.
Manage program records and QA/QC for inspection data.
Assist with SPCC plan updates and regulatory research.
Sample, analyze, and monitor stormwater and water quality at Fort Bliss.
