Job summary

The Environmental Specialist II at City of Dallas conducts inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with environmental laws and standards. Responsibilities include sampling, spill response, and coordination with regulatory programs for municipal water, storm, and sewer services.

Applicant must have strong knowledge of CWA/RCRA, plus experience with water quality monitoring procedures. The role requires field work, reporting, and training of staff.

Qualifications

• High School or GED with sciences, chemistry or biology.
• Experience with environmental inspections and sampling.
• HAZWOPER certification needed within probation.
• CESCP/QCIS certifications preferred.
• Experience with SDS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides mid-level expertise on environmental inspections, assessments, and compliance reports.
• Monitors and coordinates spill response activities and documents investigations.
• Inspects sites for environmental compliance; reviews waste storage, water facilities, and stormwater practices.
• Prepares and files reports detailing inspections, non-compliance, and data findings.
• Applies regulations to inspections; trains others to perform duties.
• Responds to 24-hour emergency service requests and documents investigations.
• Supports senior specialists in leading investigations with other departments.
• Performs additional related duties as assigned.
