Job summary

WestLand is seeking an Environmental Compliance Inspector to join the Tucson team. The role focuses on inspecting construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and project-specific plans.

Responsibilities include field inspections, documentation, advising crews on corrective actions, and coordinating with regulators. A bachelor’s in Environmental Science or related field is preferred, with at least two years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Experience in environmental inspection, compliance monitoring, or related field.
• Strong observational and documentation skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with construction personnel, project managers, and regulators.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for preparing reports and documentation.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions in the field.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Minimum two years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily inspections of construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit conditions.
• Monitor implementation of erosion and sediment control measures, spill prevention protocols, and other environmental protection practices.
• Document inspection findings, including photographs and written reports, and communicate results to project management.
• Advise construction crews on corrective actions to address environmental compliance issues.
• Coordinate with project management, contractors, and regulatory agencies regarding compliance matters.
• Maintain accurate inspection logs, reports, and related documentation.
• Report any environmental incidents or non-compliance to the Project Manager immediately.
• Support environmental training for construction crews as needed.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials on site.
• Assist in preparing final environmental compliance reports for project closeout.
• Participate in or complete biological field surveys as needed.
