Job summary

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources seeks an Environmental Compliance Specialist for Field Office 1 in Manchester, IA. You will support regulatory compliance and enforcement across northeast Iowa, performing inspections and coordinating with officials and stakeholders.

After training, you will inspect facilities such as animal feeding operations, water/wastewater sites, air sources, and stormwater facilities, and prepare detailed reports while traveling frequently and responding to

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a natural science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting one year of full-time professional work in an environmental program for each year (30 semester hours) of education.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, technical information, regulatory requirements, and guidance to public officials and others.
• Willingness to travel frequently during the work week with occasional overnight stays.
• Must be able to respond 24/7 on-site for emergency response duty.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections of regulated facilities across northeast Iowa.
• Prepare investigations reports and meet with internal and external customers including officials and professionals.
• Explain regulatory requirements and guide facilities toward compliance.
• Respond to emergency response incidents as needed.
