Job summary

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist in Atlantic, IA. You will perform on-site inspections of facilities, assess compliance with environmental rules, and prepare detailed reports for internal and external partners.

The role requires strong communication skills, GIS familiarity, and the ability to work outdoors in varied conditions. Training includes emergency response duties and travel across the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in natural science or higher; relevant experience accepted as substitution.
• Strong written and verbal communication with public officials and stakeholders.
• Ability to travel frequently and respond to emergencies as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections of regulated facilities across southwest Iowa.
• Prepare investigations reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Assist facilities to achieve compliance with environmental regulations.
• Respond to emergency situations and participate in training.
