Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking an Engineering Technologist to support the PIE Install Engineering Group in Los Alamos, NM. The role ensures construction and maintenance work adheres to approved documents, coordinating between design and construction teams to verify baselines and as-built configurations.

The position offers pathways at Engineering Technologist 3 or 4 levels, with advanced responsibilities at ET4 including senior technical leadership, mentoring, and method improvements

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of construction engineering principles, practices, and methods.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and evaluating engineering design documents, drawings, specifications, and other technical documents for completeness, technical adequacy, and constructability.
• Experience interpreting construction industry specifications, construction means and methods, and applicable national codes and standards.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate engineering and technical solutions effectively, both verbally and in writing, with management, customers, engineering personnel, construction personnel, and craft personnel.
• Experience conducting field verifications of construction work to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, codes, standards, and other applicable project requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to collaboratively identify and resolve facility and infrastructure engineering issues in the field while coordinating between design engineering and construction.
• Experience coordinating the technical resolution of field conditions, design discrepancies, constructability, and other construction-related technical matters.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage assigned field engineering activities and prioritize multiple assignments of varying complexity.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that the technical aspects of construction and maintenance projects comply with Approved Project Documents.
• Provide input during scoping, design, execution, and closeout to verify accuracy of baseline and as-built configurations.
• Expedite project execution by identifying issues and guiding constructors through approved procedures.
• Coordinate between design engineering and construction to resolve field conditions and implement constructability solutions.
