Job summary

Salas O'Brien in Los Alamos, NM is seeking an Engineering Technologist to support the Scorpius project. You will assist engineers and technicians with assembly, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of complex accelerator systems and equipment.

You will translate engineering requirements into field-ready work, resolve technical issues, and ensure changes are accurately communicated and documented, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet safety and quality

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, mechanical technology, electrical technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience documenting field changes, test results, equipment conditions, or technical work activities.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical procedures.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, or integrated equipment systems preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Experience in DOE, national laboratory, accelerator, high-hazard, or other highly regulated environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support engineers and technicians with assembly, installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Scorpius systems and equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and technical documentation to support field execution.
• Assist with design updates, redlines, configuration changes, and as-built documentation based on field conditions and engineering direction.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, technicians, and other project teams to communicate technical changes and resolve issues.
• Collect measurements, test data, inspection results, and other technical information to support engineering evaluations.
• Support equipment readiness, work planning, system integration, and turnover activities.
• Identify field issues and provide practical feedback to improve designs, procedures, manufacturability, installation, and maintainability.
• Perform work in accordance with project procedures, quality requirements, and applicable safety standards.
