Job summary

Salas O’Brien, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Technologist to support the Scorpius project in Los Alamos, NM.

This role collaborates with engineers and technicians to develop, assemble, install, test, troubleshoot, and document complex accelerator systems and equipment. You will translate engineering requirements into field-ready work, help resolve technical issues, and ensure changes are accurately communicated and documented.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, or integrated equipment systems preferred.
• Experience documenting field changes, test results, equipment conditions, or technical work activities.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical procedures.
• Experience in DOE, national laboratory, accelerator, high-hazard, or other highly regulated environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support assembly, installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Scorpius systems and equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and technical documentation to support field execution.
• Assist with design updates, redlines, configuration changes, and as-built documentation based on field conditions and engineering direction.
• Coordinate with engineering, operations, technicians, and other project teams to communicate technical changes and resolve issues.
• Collect measurements, test data, inspection results, and other technical information to support engineering evaluations.
• Support equipment readiness, work planning, system integration, and turnover activities.
• Identify field issues and provide practical feedback to improve designs, procedures, manufacturability, installation, and maintainability.
