Job summary

The State of North Carolina Department of Transportation seeks an Engineering Technician II (S) to support project inspections, surveying, material sampling and testing across highway construction. The role may supervise lower-level technicians and coordinate with CEI personnel while maintaining meticulous records and diaries of project operations.

Qualified candidates will hold an associate degree inEngineering Technology or Survey Technology with two years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or related field.
• Two years of progressive technician-level experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience allowed.
• Knowledge of HiCAMS and SharePoint is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support higher level technicians and engineers in construction inspection, surveying, material sampling and testing.
• Assist in coordination of work assignments and supervision of lower-level technicians and CEI personnel.
• Maintain diaries, prepare material reports and pay records, and perform construction calculations.
• Enter data using computer or iPad and maintain accurate records.
• Communicate effectively with engineers, contractors, and the public; observe safety practices.
