Job summary

Nexus Data Centers is hiring a Field Engineering Manager to lead field engineering activities for the Hubbard data center campus, spanning construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and turnover of the power block and central utility plant. Qualifications

• 10+ years of field engineering, project engineering, or construction/commissioning management experience on large-scale power generation, petrochemical, or industrial capital projects.
• 5+ years of hyperscale data center construction experience preferred.
• Direct experience with power block, gas turbine, or combined-cycle power generation systems, or major utility/BOP systems on a comparable industrial project.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day field engineering leadership for gas turbine generation, power block, and central utility plant systems during construction and pre-commissioning.
• Interface directly with EPC and multi-prime contractors on site to resolve design and constructability issues, RFIs, and field deviations without delay.
• Drive mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation & controls scope through construction completion, system turnover, and commissioning readiness.
• Support turnaround-style planning discipline: scope definition, contractor coordination, safety, logistics, and materials readiness for major system milestones.
• Coordinate with third-party commissioning and operations teams already on site to ensure a clean, well-documented handover from construction to operations.
• Track and report field progress, quality, and technical risk to project leadership, escalating issues before they affect the schedule.
• Uphold site safety standards and support a construction culture with real ownership and real accountability.

Job description

Nexus is hiring a Field Engineering Manager to support the natural gas power generation and central utility plant scope at the Hubbard data center campus. This role provides field engineering leadership across construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and turnover for the power block and associated utility systems on site. You will work directly with EPC and multi-prime contractors on site, resolve field engineering issues in real time, and drive systems toward ready-for-operations handover on an aggressive, fixed schedule.

This is a hands-on, on-site leadership role for someone who has run field engineering on large industrial, power generation, or petrochemical projects and wants to bring that discipline to a build-out measured in gigawatts, not megawatts.

What You'll Do

What You Bring

• 10+ years of field engineering, project engineering, or construction/commissioning management experience on large-scale power generation, petrochemical, or industrial capital projects.
• 5+ years of hyperscale data center construction experience is preferred but not required.
• Direct experience with power block, gas turbine, or combined-cycle power generation systems, or major utility/BOP systems on a comparable industrial project.
• Track record of leading field engineering through construction turnover, pre-commissioning, and commissioning to startup readiness.
• Comfort working directly with EPC and multi-prime contractors in a fast-moving, decision-in-hours field environment.
• Working knowledge across mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation & controls disciplines.
• B.S. in Engineering (or equivalent experience); relevant military technical background is a plus.
• Willingness to work on site full-time in Hill County, Texas.
