Job summary

Shimmick is seeking a Senior Construction Engineer in Palmdale, CA to support the Influent Pump Station Modification project for LACSD. You will provide field engineering, oversee layout and grade control, manage subcontractors, and coordinate with inspectors, suppliers, and the project team to ensure quality, safety, and on‑time delivery.

This role requires collaboration with the superintendent, familiarity with AutoCAD, Procore, and Bluebeam, and a strong commitment to OSHA safety standards in

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with 4 years of heavy civil experience.
• Water/wastewater plant construction experience preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards.
• Ability to read plans, specifications and technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to field crews and interpret drawings, specs, and contract requirements.
• Oversee layout, surveying, and grade control to maintain accuracy.
• Manage construction methodologies with the superintendent and project team.
• Support the superintendent in day‑to‑day tasks and coordinate with inspectors and subcontractors.
• Maintain field records and documentation for closeout and future reference.
