Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's Applied Research Laboratories seeks a Field Engineering Associate to groom, operate and maintain advanced underwater sensor systems in Bangor, Washington. The role supports Navy-related platforms and training initiatives.

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree and extensive experience with Navy underwater systems, plus strong planning, documentation and training capabilities. Travel and tight coordination with sponsors and vendors are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Six years related experience, five years in operation, test, evaluation of Navy underwater systems.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and execute installation, test and maintenance procedures using Navy processes.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and training, including operating and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Curriculum development and delivering training to Navy/industry partners.
  • Dynamic, organized, able to manage multiple tasks, work with sensitive information, communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide field engineering support for underwater sensor suites, grooming, operations and maintenance.
  • Develop test and maintenance procedures and work packages; create technical manuals.
  • Support testing on training platforms and Navy platforms; troubleshoot and repair.
  • Help define training curriculum and special training systems.
  • Present progress briefs to sponsors; maintain relationships with vendors and partners.
  • Travel as required and stay current with new technologies.
  • Respond to end-user logistics and availability needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
