Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Field Engineer to support the Superintendent with front-line field management on construction projects. You will perform layout, supervise trades, and contribute to safety, quality control, and schedule/cost reporting.

The role emphasizes field work with some office tasks, requires a 4-year civil/related degree and 1 year of experience, and involves collaboration with the VDC team and trade partners.

Qualifications

• Requires a 4-year degree in a construction-related field or closely related discipline.
• Experience or education-experience mix is acceptable.
• Valid driver’s license and strong communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Project layout (surveying) in conformance with design and contract documents.
• Check concrete forms for accuracy and adequacy before placement of concrete.
• Produce production trend analyses and report for schedule and cost control.
• Assist with quality control, safety initiatives, and coordination of trade partners.
• Supervise a small workforce to gain supervisory experience.
• Coordinate material deliveries and verify quantities against requirements.
• Inspect materials for quantity, quality, and condition; report shortages or damage.
• Assist foremen and trades with interpretation of plans and specs.
• Oversee trade partners and field workforce to gain supervisory experience.
• Participate in jobsite safety meetings and audits.
• Collaborate with VDC team on scope, plan, and deliverables for field ops.
• Review and navigate within the current 3D model viewing and scheduling software.
