Field Service Electrical Engineer (Remote in Houston)

The Electrical Engineer will carry out commissioning, installation, repair, maintenance, and upgrading of large rotating electrical machines and their associated control equipment at customer sites across the US and internationally.

As a Field Specialist-Electrical Commissioning, your responsibilities include:

• Commissioning high voltage generators, motors, synchronous condensers, power management systems (PMS), electrical protection systems, excitation controllers (AVRs), and synchronizing equipment.
• Applying company health and safety procedures, including HV safety, lockout/tagout, permit to work systems, and risk assessments.
• Upgrading AVRS, PMS systems, synchronizers, protection relays, and other control elements.
• Performing electrical testing on high and low voltage equipment and machine windings, including polarization index, insulation resistance, and ductor tests.
• Managing projects onsite with some level of project coordination.
• Training clients and field service colleagues on Brush products.
• Interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and requirements, and attending technical meetings on-site and at customer premises.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a recognized apprenticeship with field experience.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical power generation and distribution systems for industrial equipment, including networking systems like Modbus, Ethernet, 61850, Fiber.
• Self-reliance, resourcefulness, problem-solving skills, and commercial awareness.
• Experience representing the company at customer sites and operating independently while adhering to the company's code of conduct.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations for high and medium voltage electrical systems and industrial environments.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (75-85%) on short notice as required.
