Job Description Summary

The Field Service Engineer 2 for BD Pyxis Dispensing Devices is responsible for independently providing efficient and effective field service support to all BD dispensing customers within a designated territory. This includes service and repair, preventative maintenance, calibration, installations, and limited cross-functional support for Sales and Implementation teams.

Position Details

This is a remote, field-based position with daily travel to customer locations within the Houston, TX area. Candidates should reside within a 30-mile radius of Houston. A company vehicle is provided. Up to 5% overnight travel may be required. A valid driver’s license is necessary. Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate.

Work schedule: Wed-Sun / 12-9.

Accountabilities

• Provide remote and on-site technical support for BD Pyxis automated dispensing systems in hospitals and healthcare facilities within the region.
• Respond to, evaluate, and prioritize work orders; diagnose, service, and resolve hardware and software issues; document all activities.
• Implement preventive maintenance programs, support sales and implementation teams, and other related activities.
• Demonstrate competency in solving hardware and software problems.
• Ensure timely and efficient field services, including installations, repairs, calibration, and sales support.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all field activities and expenses.
• Engage in ongoing training and self-development to stay current with product knowledge and skills.
• Maintain understanding of company procedures, policies, and customer complaint handling, including Medical Device Reporting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• 3-5 years of related experience or relevant Hardware/Software/IT background.
• 24x7 on-call experience in a customer-facing/field service environment.
• Experience with computer electronics, Windows OS, and networks.
• Medical device or electromechanical device service/repair experience.
• Customer Support Certification.
• Hospital pharmacy technician or Bio-Med experience is a plus.
• Ability to work independently within defined processes.
• Valid driver’s license and adherence to auto safety standards.

Physical Requirements

• Lifting up to 70 lbs.
• Operation of powered tools.
• Manual manipulation of tools.
• Repetitive sitting, kneeling, squatting, bending, and standing.
• Ability to push/pull heavy objects.
• Fine motor tasks over an 8-10 hour day.
• Driving distances up to 6 hours, in various weather conditions.

Additional Information

BD values on-site collaboration but recognizes the need for flexibility. Most roles require at least 4 days in-office per week. Remote roles will specify arrangements. Employment may require proof of COVID-19 vaccination or testing, consistent with company policies.
