Job summary

Blattner's entry-level Field Engineer role is the backbone of project teams, turning plans into on-site reality. You’ll work on some of the country’s largest renewable energy projects and gain hands-on leadership experience early in your career.

In this role you’ll support field operations, coordinate with superintendents and subcontractors, monitor production and costs, and participate in onboarding and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Interest in renewable energy or large-scale construction projects.
  • Willingness to travel and work project-based assignments (typical projects range 6–18 months).
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced field environment.
  • A team-first mindset with a commitment to safety, integrity, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Project Execution & Field Coordination
  • Support daily construction operations to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Coordinate with Trade Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to keep work moving efficiently
  • Track daily production quantities, equipment usage, and cost data to support accurate reporting and forecasting
  • Assist with short-interval planning (two-week lookahead) and daily Plan of the Day execution
  • Review QA/QC inspections, documentation, and compliance with project Quality Plans
  • Assist with environmental compliance activities including SWPPP, erosion control, and permit requirements
  • Assist with subcontractor progress tracking, pay applications, and change documentation
  • Monitor job costs against estimates and escalate risks or variances early
  • Partner closely with Superintendents, Project Construction Coordinators, and Site Managers to support field leadership
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, landowners, utilities, and internal teams
  • Participate in structured onboarding, mentorship, and ongoing development opportunities
  • You understand your role, expectations, and how your work impacts project outcomes
  • You’re trusted by field leaders and subcontractors to get things done the right way
  • You continue to grow your technical, organizational, and leadership skills with each project
  • You’re building toward your next role—whether that’s Project Construction Coordinator, Superintendent, or another leadership path at Blattner
