Job summary

Nexus Engineering Group is seeking an Electrical Engineer to gather and analyze technical data to develop basic electrical designs for power distribution, one-line drawings, load studies, and equipment lists across industrial and power delivery projects.

The role blends hands-on field work with design, including visiting client facilities, reviewing drawings, and coordinating with senior staff for approvals. Hybrid work environment in a collaborative ESOP-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
• 1+ year of experience in power distribution, utility coordination, or control system calculations and design.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, standards, and equipment documentation.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD 2-D CAD; 3-D CAD is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze technical data to prepare electrical designs for client projects.
• Develop power and electrical distribution designs, including one-line drawings.
• Perform load studies and the supporting engineering calculations.
• Prepare power equipment lists and support transformer, switchgear, motor, and UPS selection.
• Develop area classification docs and electrical drawings (lighting, HT).
• Apply industry and company standards to engineering work products.
• Submit completed work to seniors for review before client presentation.
• Visit client facilities to collect field data and support design development.
