Job summary

APTIM Corp. is seeking a mid-level Field Engineer to support design-build construction projects at the Alabama Port Authority in Mobile, Alabama.

This field role focuses on engineering oversight and quality control for maintenance activities and capital projects at the port, particularly the McDuffie Coal Terminal. Strong communication skills are required to interact with client representatives, project engineers, and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited program
• 5-10 years relevant experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft suite
• Ability to quickly acquire project-specific standards and procedures
• Well organized with field and office communication
• Experience supporting scope of work development, schedules, and cost estimating
• Ability to acquire TWIC and Alabama Port credentials

Responsibilities

• Provide level of effort estimates for schedule and cost of construction activities and engineering oversight
• Collaborate with Designer of Record on interpretation of design elements for field conditions
• Support development of project execution plans, risk assessment, and field activity planning
• Implement and document the three-phase inspection process to ensure conformance with approved design
• Complete Daily Quality Control Reports documenting inspection activities
• Manage record drawings and specifications for changes and as-built drawings
• Manage equipment and material receipt and conformance to drawings and specs
• Maintain frequent verbal and written communication with contractors, suppliers, and project team
• Identify requirements, conflicts, non-conformances, changes and liaise with engineering/management
