Job summary

Flatiron Construction Corp. seeks a Field Engineer to lead on-site technical engineering efforts, ensuring work aligns with standards, codes and contract specs. You will translate design drawings into field execution and collaborate with crews to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

You will review shop drawings, support work plans, assess risks, and coordinate with finance and subcontractors to ensure accurate cost reporting and compliance. This full-time role is based in Austin, TX.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
• 1+ year of construction engineering experience preferred.
• Construction engineering knowledge required.
• Familiar with construction equipment, drawings, specs, materials and standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members.

Responsibilities

• Meet daily with project crews to plan production and verify materials and resources.
• Collect, coordinate and analyze shop drawings and design specs for quality and compliance.
• Provide technical input for project work plan and scheduling; identify risks.
• Evaluate production, schedule and budget projections; document daily activities.
• Coordinate cost input and ensure accurate reporting; work with finance on costs.
• Review and approve timecards with office staff and supervisors.
• Review project specs for QA; manage certificates, inspections, and docs.
• Plan field layout and mark utilities; obtain permits as needed.
• Assist design drawings and provide technical input.
• Coordinate subcontractor methods, schedules and crews.
