Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Field Engineer to assist the Superintendent with frontline field management on a major project in Austin. You will participate in layout, safety, quality control and coordination with trade partners to ensure on-time, on-budget execution.

The role demands a 4-year degree in a related field, 1 year of experience or equivalent, and a valid driver's license. Strong communication and software proficiency are required for success.

Qualifications

• Requires a 4-year degree in Civil, Structural, Architecture, Construction Management or related field.
• 1 year of experience and/or a combination of education and experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel-based templates, ProjectSight, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.

Responsibilities

• Project layout (surveying) in conformance with design and contract documents.
• Check concrete forms for accuracy and adequacy of construction; inspect embedded items.
• Produce production trend analysis for quantities in place; support weekly/monthly schedule and cost control reports.
• Assist with quality control, site safety initiatives and coordination of trade partners.
• May direct a small work force to gain supervisory experience.
• Coordinate material deliveries; verify requirements vs. delivery status.
• Inspect delivered materials for quantity, quality, condition; report missing/damaged items.
• Assist foremen and trade partners with interpretation of plans and specifications.
• Oversee trade partners and direct workforces to gain supervisory experience.
• Participate in jobsite safety meetings and weekly safety audits.
• Collaborate with VDC team on scope of work, execution plan and deliverables for field ops.
• Review and navigate within the current 3D model viewing and scheduling software.
