Job summary

McShane Construction Company, based in Rosemont, IL, is seeking a Field Engineer to support on-site supervision for construction projects. You will assist the Project Superintendent with daily operations, coordinate subcontractors, ensure safety compliance, and help manage timelines and budgets.

The ideal candidate has 0-2 years of construction management experience, is proficient with Salus, PlanGrid, and Microsoft Office Suite, and holds a valid U.S. driver's license.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years' experience in Construction Management.
• Ability to effectively communicate with clients, design consultants and trade partners.
• Fully proficient with Salus, PlanGrid and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Full-time, in-office position.
• Valid U.S. Driver's License required.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent in overseeing daily construction site operations and activities.
• Coordinate and monitor subcontractor and supplier performance to ensure compliance with project specifications and schedules.
• Enforce safety protocols and company policies to maintain a secure work environment for all personnel.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure work quality and adherence to plans and standards.
• Support meetings, maintain logs, and document site progress.
• Facilitate timely delivery and storage of materials, tools, and equipment.
• Identify and report potential issues or discrepancies to the Project Superintendent.
• Develop quality control lists in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Assist with implementation of project schedules and adjust as directed.
• Foster positive relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and inspectors on site.
• Possess understanding of construction methods, OSHA regulations, and building codes.
• Proficient in reading drawings and site plans.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems, multitask, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Basic computer skills, with proficiency in construction management software.
• Willingness to work hours beyond 8-5; early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
