Job summary

William Charles Construction, a MasTec company, is seeking Construction Field Engineer Interns for Summer 2026 in Springfield, IL. You will support the Project Manager and Construction Manager, assist with estimating, and help implement quality plans and site-specific procedures.

Responsibilities include field surveying, tracking activities, coordinating audits, managing material inventory, and preparing as-builts and job binders.

Qualifications

Pursuing a 4-year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related safety/health field.
Minimum GPA 3.0.
24 hours of college credits completed.
100% travel on project sites.
Comfortable with dirt, heat, and noise.

Responsibilities

Perform field survey work for layout and tracking of activities using PC-based software and GPS.
Assist with management of project-specific quality control records and reporting.
Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating audits/inspections.
Assist with material inventory and receiving paperwork.
Assist with final job closeout, as-builts, and job binder creation.
Assist with subcontractor scheduling and management.
Assist with RFI submittals.
Extended hours and weekend work may be required.
