Job summary

William Charles Construction, a MasTec company, seeks Construction Field Engineer Interns for Summer 2026 in Rockford, IL. You will support the Project Manager and Construction Manager, assist with estimating, and help implement project quality plans and site plans.

Role involves fieldwork across Rockford sites, with 21–23/hour pay, weekend hours possible, and no benefits. Pre-employment screening may apply; accommodation available upon request.

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or OSH/ES&H; other related degrees allowed: Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum GPA 3.0; 24 credit hours completed; basic understanding of construction industry practices.

Responsibilities

• Performs field survey work using PC-based software and GPS equipment.
• Assist with quality control records and required reporting.
• Assist with planning, scheduling and audits/inspections documentation.
• Assist with material inventory and receiving paperwork.
• Assist with final job closeout, as-builts, and job binder creation.
• Assist with subcontractor scheduling and management.
• Assist with RFI submittals.
• Extended hours and weekend work may be required.
