Job summary

William Charles Construction, part of MasTec's Clean Energy & Infrastructure group, is seeking a Summer 2026 Field Engineer Intern for Springfield, IL. The intern will assist the Project Manager and Construction Manager, support estimating, and help implement site quality plans, inventory, and documentation.

Travel is required to field sites; responsibilities include field surveys with GPS, coordinating audits/inspections, managing materials, and assisting with RFIs.

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergraduate four-year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Occupational Safety and Health/Environmental Safety and Health.
• Other applicable degrees include Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum GPA 3.0 and 24 hours of college credits completed.

Responsibilities

• Performs field survey work regarding layout and tracking of work activities, utilizing PC based software and GPS station/field equipment.
• Assist with managing project specific quality control records and ensuring that required reporting is accomplished.
• Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating to ensure that all required audits/inspections are performed and documented.
• Assist with material inventory and receiving paperwork.
• Assist with final job closeout, as-builts, job binder creation.
• Assist with subcontractor scheduling and management.
• Assist with RFI submittals.
