Job summary

Concrete Strategies is seeking a Field Engineer Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience on diverse construction projects. You will collaborate with project teams, assist with site operations, safety oversight, and documentation, and participate in measuring, budgeting, and on-site problem solving.

You’ll learn to work with general contractors and vendors, contribute to quality control, and develop technical skills through mentorship and practical module work on real-site tasks.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of construction principles, methods and materials.
  • Proficiency in using construction software and tools.
  • Interest in gaining hands-on experience on construction sites.
  • Willingness to learn safety regulations and protocols.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to interact with diverse team members, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Eagerness to learn and utilize creative problem-solving on-site.
  • Effective time management to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with site preparation, inspections, and safety compliance.
  • Participate in concrete pouring, framing, finishing, and other trades.
  • Help maintain project documentation, blueprints, schedules, and reports.
  • Support on-site cost estimation and budget tracking activities.
  • Coordinate schedules, deliveries, and logistics with teams and vendors.
  • Contribute to quality checks to ensure work meets specs and standards.
  • Learn to lead small teams and communicate effectively on site.

Job description

As a Field Engineer Intern at Concrete Strategies, you'll dive into the heart of construction operations, gaining hands‑on experience in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment. Your role will involve collaborating closely with project teams and experienced professionals to support various construction projects from inception to completion.

During your internship, you'll have the opportunity to learn about and contribute to:

  • Site Operations & Supervision: You will be on the frontlines, assisting with site preparation, inspections, and ensuring that construction activities adhere to safety standards and project plans.
  • Construction Tasks: Participate in hands‑on construction activities, such as concrete pouring, framing, finishing, and various specialized trades.
  • Project Documentation: You’ll help maintain accurate project documentation, including blueprints, schedules, and progress reports, ensuring that all project stakeholders are well‑informed.
  • Safety Oversight: Assist in maintaining a safe work environment, promoting adherence to safety protocols and regulations to protect all personnel on the site.
  • Measurement and Analysis: You’ll learn to take accurate measurements, track quantities of materials used, and assist in project cost estimation and budget management.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with general contractors, vendors, and various teams to coordinate schedules, tasks, deliveries, logistics and ensure smooth operations on‑site.
  • Quality Control: You’ll learn how to perform quality checks and inspections, ensuring that the work meets specifications and quality standards.
  • Team Leadership: Learn to lead and manage, and work alongside teams of skilled tradespeople and laborers, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
  • Problem Solving: Participate in identifying and addressing on‑site challenges, helping to find creative solutions to keep the project progressing smoothly.
  • Client Interaction: Participate in client meetings and updates, contributing to effective communication and client satisfaction.
