Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Field Engineer to support construction management oversight of preparatory works for a major infrastructure program in the San Jose area. The role emphasizes monitoring field activities, reviewing technical information, and maintaining accurate records.

The candidate will work with Resident Engineer and ARE colleagues across multiple fronts, coordinating with inspectors, safety, quality, and design teams to ensure compliance with contracts and permits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• 8+ years in civil, transportation, or major infrastructure projects.
• Experience coordinating with contractors, designers, inspectors, and authorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide field observations and ensure conformance with contract documents and standards.
• Support review of contractor plans, submittals, and change requests; prepare documentation.
• Attend field coordination and progress meetings; maintain clear action records.
• Assist in risk tracking, issue resolution, and turnover documentation.
