Job summary

Interstates is seeking a Field Engineer III to bridge engineering, construction, and client needs on major industrial projects nationwide. You’ll work onsite at projects, solving real-world technical challenges and guiding teams toward on-time delivery.

The role offers leadership opportunities, collaboration with senior engineers, and exposure to electrical, controls, and OT disciplines across diverse sites. Travel is a core element of the position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years in construction, field engineering, or a related role.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or intent/ability to obtain licensure.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, field coordination, and project execution.
• Experience interpreting electrical drawings, specs, and technical docs.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support on active jobsites and address field or client issues.
• Review electrical designs and validate installations during construction.
• Serve as liaison between engineering, construction teams, clients, vendors, and partner firms.
• Build strong client relationships through regular communication.
• Lead small projects and coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines.
• Assist with proposals through collaboration with project managers and estimators.
• Mentor team members through delegation and guidance.
• Act as owner's representative to ensure project expectations are met.
• Assist with RFIs and estimating specification reviews.
• Support 3D/BIM model coordination and document as-built info.
