Job description

The Field Engineer I - Structured Cabling serves as a critical technical resource responsible for project documentation, quality assurance, and closeout activities across structured cabling and technology infrastructure projects. This role ensures installations are completed according to design, testing requirements, and customer expectations while maintaining accurate project records throughout the project lifecycle. Acting as a liaison between field operations, engineering, QA, project management, and customers, the Field Engineer helps drive successful project delivery, documentation compliance, and turnover readiness from project kickoff through final closeout.

What You'll Do

Lead key engineering and documentation efforts throughout the project lifecycle, including product submittals, redlines, testing audits, RFIs, warranties, labeling, and closeout documentation. You'll verify that copper, fiber, network, and infrastructure installations are completed according to design specifications and accurately reflected in project documentation. Responsibilities include maintaining and updating redline drawings, coordinating RFI implementation, managing testing audits, validating cable schedules, and ensuring all project deliverables align with quality standards and customer requirements.

You'll support project teams by reviewing shop drawings, coordinating with engineering and QA teams, overseeing documentation control, conducting field verification activities, and assisting with design updates in BIM360 and related platforms. You'll also participate in lessons learned initiatives, support continuous improvement efforts, manage warranty documentation, coordinate labeling requirements, and help ensure complete and accurate turnover packages for successful project closeout.

What You'll Bring

You bring strong structured cabling, telecommunications, or low-voltage experience with a passion for project quality, documentation accuracy, and technical excellence. You have experience interpreting design documents, reviewing installation quality, managing project records, and supporting closeout activities across complex infrastructure projects. Your attention to detail enables you to effectively manage redlines, testing documentation, cable schedules, RFIs, submittals, and audit processes while ensuring compliance with project requirements.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and collaborative, with the ability to work effectively with field teams, engineers, project managers, QA personnel, customers, and subcontractors. You excel at identifying issues before they become problems, maintaining documentation integrity, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the project lifecycle. Most importantly, you take ownership of project quality and deliverables, ensuring projects are properly documented, thoroughly tested, successfully closed out, and ready for customer turnover.
