Job description

Omnisight, Inc. | Charleston, SC | Full-Time | Entry Level (0–3 Years)

This is an in-office position in the Charleston, SC area and is not remote or hybrid. Candidates must currently live in the Charleston area or be willing to relocate at their own expense prior to starting.

About Omnisight

Omnisight develops intelligent sensing and safety solutions that combine radar, computer vision, edge computing, and cloud connectivity to make roadways and work zones safer and more efficient.

Our technology is deployed in real-world transportation applications including work-zone safety, traffic monitoring, truck parking, intersection detection, and other intelligent transportation systems.

We are a growing technology company where team members have the opportunity to work across traditional job boundaries, solve real customer problems, and directly impact our products and customers.

About the Role

We are looking for a technically curious, resourceful, and customer-focused Field Engineer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer or computer science graduate who enjoys troubleshooting, learning new technologies, and working directly with customers.

As a Field Engineer, you will serve as a key technical resource for Omnisight customers—helping configure new systems, troubleshoot technical issues, support deployments, and ensure our customers are successful with our products.

We don't expect you to already know radar, computer vision, or all of the technologies we use. We can teach those skills.

Because Omnisight is a small and growing technology company, you won't be limited to traditional technical support. Depending on your skills and interests, you may also contribute to software development, product testing, process automation, data analysis, documentation, and other engineering initiatives.

What You'll Do
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for customers using Omnisight products and systems.
  • Configure and commission systems for new customer deployments.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, connectivity, and configuration issues.
  • Work directly with customers to understand technical issues, gather relevant information, and drive problems through resolution.
  • Support field deployments, system testing, demonstrations, and customer evaluations.
  • Analyze system data, logs, video, and other information to identify root causes and improve system performance.
  • Work closely with our engineering team to elevate issues, identify product improvements, and communicate customer feedback.
  • Test new software, firmware, product features, and configurations prior to deployment.
  • Develop technical documentation, troubleshooting procedures, and customer support resources.
  • Use scripting, software tools, and AI-assisted development to automate repetitive tasks, analyze data, and improve internal processes.
  • Assist with programming and software development projects, with opportunities to take on increasingly sophisticated work as your skills grow.
  • Develop a working knowledge of Omnisight's radar, computer vision, edge computing, networking, and cloud technologies.
  • Jump in on other technical and operational projects as needed in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
What We're Looking For

We place a high value on aptitude, initiative, and willingness to learn. You are not expected to have experience with every technology we use.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent demonstrated technical experience.
  • 0–3 years of professional experience.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working with computers, networks, software, and electronic systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to customers with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Professional, patient, and customer-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently when needed.
  • Willingness to take ownership of problems and follow them through to resolution.
  • Ability and willingness to travel periodically to customer sites within the United States.
  • Ability to work full-time from our Charleston, SC area office.
Helpful Experience

Experience in any of the following is a plus, but not required:

  • Programming or scripting in any language.
  • Linux and command-line tools.
  • IP networking, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, LTE/cellular communications, or IoT devices.
  • APIs, databases, or cloud-based applications.
  • Computer vision, image processing, radar, or other sensing technologies.
  • Embedded systems or electronics.
  • Data analysis and visualization.
  • Technical support, field engineering, application engineering, or other customer-facing technical roles.
  • Intelligent transportation systems, traffic engineering, or transportation technology.
What Success Looks Like

During your first several months, you'll develop a strong understanding of Omnisight's products and become comfortable configuring systems, supporting deployments, and resolving common customer issues.

As your experience grows, you'll take increasing ownership of customer deployments and more complex technical challenges.

We also expect the role to evolve based on your strengths and interests. A successful Field Engineer could grow into areas such as application engineering, software development, systems engineering, product management, or technical customer leadership.

Why Join Omnisight?
  • Work hands-on with radar, computer vision, AI, edge computing, networking, and connected-device technologies.
  • See your work deployed in real-world transportation and roadway safety applications.
  • Gain significant responsibility and customer exposure early in your career.
  • Work directly with and learn from an experienced engineering team.
  • Develop software and engineering skills while solving real customer problems.
  • Work in an environment where initiative and good ideas are valued regardless of title or tenure.
  • Take on broader responsibilities and grow your career as Omnisight grows.

If you're technically curious, enjoy solving problems, like working with customers, and want an opportunity to learn quickly while working on real-world technology, we'd like to hear from you.
