Job summary

EDM International, Inc is seeking a Field Engineer to support electric utility infrastructure construction on client sites. This hands-on role requires working with contractors, engineers, and utility clients to ensure work meets drawings, specs, and project requirements.

Responsibilities include monitoring activities, documenting field conditions, preparing daily reports, coordinating resolutions, and promoting safety across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Construction, or related engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of engineering, construction, or field engineering experience.
• Experience with electric utility transmission, distribution, or substation projects is preferred.
• Experience with transmission line construction—foundations, towers, conductors—is a plus.
• EIT certification or progress toward PE licensure is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specs, and design documents.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with web-based project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide field engineering support for electric utility construction projects.
• Monitor construction activities and evaluate conformance with drawings, specs, and project requirements.
• Prepare detailed daily field reports documenting progress, field conditions, and technical issues.
• Coordinate with contractors, project engineers, and client representatives to resolve field issues.
• Identify discrepancies, field changes, and potential nonconforming work.
• Observe field testing and review test results for consistency with project requirements.
• Review drawings, specifications, permits, RFIs, submittals, field revisions, and project documentation.
• Promote a safety-conscious work environment and communicate safety concerns through project channels.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Construction, or related engineering

Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
