Job summary

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is seeking a Field Engineer to support field operations on current Southeast projects.

The role liaises with Superintendents, subcontractors, and project engineers to help drive schedule, quality, and compliance on site in a dynamic construction environment. The ideal candidate will have a civil/structural engineering or CM background, strong communication, and familiarity with field coordination, RFIs, and submittals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or another relevant field.
• 0 to 4 years of construction-related experience.
• Competent Person certifications in applicable areas (trenching, scaffolding, rigging, confined space, fall protection, OSHA 10-Hour, First Aid & CPR) and surveying fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and assist with facility start-up activities.
• Attend meetings (Sub, progress, and team).
• Maintain logs and files (field, equipment, delivery, concrete tracking, rental tracking).
• Identify need for and manage RFIs.
• Manage approved submittals to ensure QC and on-site compliance.
• Maintain as-built drawings (Electronic and Hard Set).
• Material purchasing, expediting, and field purchase orders; maintain material control on site.
