Job summary

Evans Contracting Group is seeking a Field Engineer for on-site support in the Charleston, SC metropolitan area. The role focuses on coordinating field activities, verifying dimensions and elevations, and assisting with layout and quality control on concrete construction projects.

You will work closely with project managers, forepersons, and subcontractors to ensure safety, adherence to plans, and timely project progress, while maintaining detailed records and participating in site meetings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years related site experience.
• Minimum 2 years in an instrument operator role or field surveying duties.
• Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Install onsite layout establishing control, benchmarks, and building lines across foundations and slabs.
• Verify layout against drawings and tolerances; document and communicate deviations.
• Lead and develop layout crews; assign work and confirm results.
• Model and enforce site safety standards; participate in planning and hazard identification.
• Maintain records, support site meetings, and help implement project plans and changes.
