Actalent is seeking an Entry Level Civil Engineer / Field Engineer to support construction materials testing and geotechnical inspections across New York City, Long Island, and surrounding areas.

Ideal for recent graduates or individuals with internship experience, the role involves fieldwork on active sites, rigorous QA/QC, and documentation duties, with daily reporting and coordination with engineers and contractors. Hybrid work in Queens, NY is available.

Qualifications

• Entry-level candidates encouraged to apply.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
• Internship, co-op, or prior experience in construction, geotechnical engineering, or materials testing is a plus.
• Basic understanding of construction materials testing and QA/QC processes preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate documentation.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced field environment.
• Willingness to learn and grow professionally.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing of construction materials, including concrete slump, air content, and cylinder sampling.
• Conduct soil density testing using nuclear gauge and sand cone methods.
• Support geotechnical inspections for foundations, earthwork, and site development projects.
• Monitor geothermal drilling and loop installation activities.
• Verify materials and construction methods comply with project plans and specifications.
• Perform QA/QC inspections and identify non-conforming work or materials.
• Prepare daily field reports, test results, logs, and photo documentation.
• Communicate field observations and project updates to engineers, contractors, and project teams.
• Coordinate with site personnel to support successful project execution.
• Maintain accurate and organized project records.
