Job summary

Ardmore Roderick in Chicago, IL seeks a Field Engineer/Assistant Project Manager to join our infrastructure team. You will oversee daily construction activities and coordinate with project teams across transportation projects.

The role is based in Chicago but will be primarily in the field at client project sites, requiring strong communication, organizational and scheduling skills to keep projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in engineering technology, construction management, urban planning or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in construction, engineering, transportation or administrative coordination.
• Familiarity with public infrastructure or municipal projects; CDOT centric project experience ideal.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Team player with strong written and verbal communication.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily construction activities and ensure compliance with project specifications, timeline and budget.
• Support project teams delivering infrastructure work for the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) through the Public Building Commission (PBC).
• Provides essential administrative, tracking and coordination support to ensure the success of transportation projects throughout the city.
• Maintaining detailed records of daily construction operations.
• Addressing and resolving issues that may arise during the construction process.
• Daily interaction with the contractor to ensure project is done on time and at budget.
