Summary:
The Field Engineer (FE) has technical responsibility for assigned projects and/or products. In this role, the FE will set the requirements for inspections of equipment as well as the requirements for repair and reassembly. In addition to technical responsibility for equipment, the FE will create the technical scope for assigned opportunities.
Reports to Director of Operations
Location: This is a remote position that will be traveling to domestic client sites as well as our service center in Wellsville NY. Applicant living within a 2 hour drive of a major US airport preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical lead for assigned projects and products
- Develop technical scope for assigned opportunities
- Will include job walks on site as needed
- Lead troubleshooting exercises when technical issues or opportunities arise in the field or in the shop
- Interface with clients to identify engineered solution opportunities and develop a scope for the solution
- Identify sources for parts and services and qualify them from a technical standpoint.
- Operate lasers, data acquisition equipment, scanners and basic measuring equipment in the field and shop.
- Drive issues to root cause and participate in implementing permanent corrective action.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Write technical standards for field service execution and shop repairs
- Write "Disassemble Clean and Inspect" (DCI) requirements for assigned equipment
- Develop technical scope for assigned projects after DCI
- Lead technical discussions with clients and internal teams
- Collaborate with SMEs within KATS as well as others outside of the company when needed
- Identify opportunities for upgrades, revamps, and parts and collaborate with the sales team to develop them into proposals
- Client visits with BD team to include presentations, lunch and learns and job walks
Metrics:
- # of RCA's completed
- Volume of proposals completed, volume of opportunities won
- # of client visits with BD team
Qualifications and Attributes:
- 10 years of related field service and/or mechanical experience working with integral reciprocating engines required
- Strong mechanical aptitude with an Oil & Gas Industry background as well as the ability to use a wide range of mechanical tools and test equipment.
- BS in Engineering - Preferably Mechanical Engineering
- Extensive experience working on steam turbines and centrifugal compressors preferred.

Additional Information:
- Work is performed at industrial, utility and field locations.
- Travel up to 70% required to customer sites and corporate locations.
- Able and willing to work day/night shifts, weekends and holidays as determined by client needs.
Compensation:
- Competitive salary commensurate with experience
- OT eligible at straight time when billable to client
- Salary non-exempt - based on 40 hrs/week when not billable
