Job summary

Job description

Expected salary range: $125,000 - $165,000 (based on experience).

Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in any future. No staffing agency candidates will be considered.

Field Engineer – Structures/Steel (Project Site: Old Saybrook, CT) reporting to Director, Structural Steel.

Responsibilities
  • Meet daily with project crews to confirm all materials, equipment, and resources are readily available for planned construction activities on schedule.
  • Collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data throughout the project.
  • Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling.
  • Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance.
  • Notify team members and manager of any significant schedule changes and recommend solutions for management consideration.
  • Provide project quantity input to ensure project financials are accurately reported.
  • Manage cost coding for employee time, materials, equipment, and subcontractor activities.
  • Review and approve daily timecards, assist site office manager to resolve any pay discrepancies with crews.
  • Review project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning, during, and after work completes.
  • Initiate and manage permits, certificates, inspections and other documentation regarding construction activities.
  • Conduct required Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) to ensure a safe and compliant work environment for all construction personnel.
  • Attend weekly safety meetings with field team and project leadership; present field analysis as needed.
  • Assist in development of design drawings and provide technical input as needed.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedules, and crews as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of experience as an Engineer, heavy field interface experience.
  • Ability to conduct meetings and present topics to a group.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of Procure (or equivalent), Blue Beam, and HCSS.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel).
  • Demonstrated aptitude to understand engineering principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
