Client is seeking a Field Engineer to support industrial construction projects within its Industrial Group. This role serves as a vital link between project management teams and field operations, ensuring successful project execution through technical support, construction planning, progress tracking, and coordination with project stakeholders. The Field Engineer will work closely with owners, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
Job Duties:
Project Coordination & Execution
- Support project scope development, estimates, contract documentation, and construction planning activities.
- Coordinate daily field operations with owners, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, schedules, budgets, and quality requirements.
- Participate in project meetings, planning sessions, and coordination efforts to facilitate successful project delivery.
Technical Support
- Serve as a technical liaison between office personnel and field teams.
- Provide real-time technical guidance and problem-solving support to field supervision.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Translate technical requirements into practical field execution plans and direction.
Project Controls & Reporting
- Track project progress and productivity metrics.
- Assist with earned value assessments and progress payment evaluations.
- Support schedule development, maintenance, and reporting activities.
- Maintain accurate project records, including RFIs, field logs, daily reports, schedules, and status updates.
- Assist with project forecasting and performance monitoring.
Change Management
- Identify potential scope changes and communicate impacts to project leadership.
- Support the preparation, documentation, and administration of change orders.
- Assist in evaluating cost and schedule implications associated with project changes.
Safety & Compliance
- Participate in safety meetings, site inspections, and job hazard discussions.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Verify that field activities are performed in accordance with company standards, project requirements, and applicable regulations.
Job Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline required.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of multidisciplinary project engineering or construction support experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of industrial construction experience required.
- Experience supporting projects within power generation, pulp and paper, chemical processing, or similar industrial environments preferred.
- Experience with project controls, scheduling, productivity tracking, and field reporting.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with Primavera P6 scheduling software preferred.
- AutoCAD experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with personnel at all organizational levels, from field craft professionals to executive leadership.
- Ability to coordinate and direct subcontractors and third-party vendors.

Certifications
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training preferred.

- Work primarily in active industrial construction environments, both indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to walk extended distances, climb stairs and ladders, bend, kneel, and navigate uneven terrain.
- Ability to carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
- Ability to work in environments with elevated noise levels, extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, and operating mechanical equipment.
- Occasional office or construction trailer work utilizing computers and project management systems.
