Job description

Field Engineer

$101000 - $115000 per year | Williston, ND | Hybrid | Permanent

Commission Target + Company Bonus + Vehicle Allowance + Team Approach + Engineering-Led Role + Low Ego, High Support
A bit about us:

We are the regional sales and service partner for a global leader in industrial fluid system components (fittings, valves, tubing, hose, regulators, and custom assemblies) that help industries move liquids and gases safely and reliably. With decades serving a multi-state Upper Midwest territory, we combine distribution, custom design and assembly, and hands-on technical services under one roof. North Dakota is a key growth market for us, and we are adding engineering horsepower there to give every customer the same high level of service. Our team is collaborative, customer-obsessed, and built on long tenure and a quality-first mindset.

Why join us?
  • Team selling model: Engineering, sales, and a dedicated inside account manager work each account together. You bring the technical expertise without owning a book of business or a solo quota.
  • Pay tied to team success: A commission target based on department performance and activity, plus a company profit share bonus that every employee is eligible for.
  • Vehicle, phone, and fuel covered: vehicle allowance, phone allowance, and a company card
  • Growth market: You'll help build our presence in an underpenetrated state with plenty of work already waiting.
  • Independence with backup: Run your own projects in the field with a full engineering, sales, and customer service team behind you.
  • Development: Formal field engineering certification and ongoing specialized training in oil, gas, and chemical applications.

  • Lead customer projects from concept to completion, including P&ID development, component selection, and confirming form, fit, and function.

  • Deliver technical presentations and hands-on training to customers and prospects.
  • Contribute to market team sales strategy, using application knowledge to shape planning and uncover new business.
  • Provide technical support, product guidance, and troubleshooting to customer service, sales, and customers.
  • Review technical documents, drawings, and fabrication requirements to confirm solutions meet specifications.
  • Manage several projects at once, collaborate on project handoffs, and review teammates' work.
  • Earn and maintain a manufacturer-backed field engineering certification.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical preferred, other disciplines considered).
  • 4-7 years of experience in project, manufacturing, production, or similar engineering roles preferred; strong candidates with 2+ years experience and degree considered.
  • Oil, gas, or chemical industry experience (required).
  • Customer-facing experience in sales, service, technical support, or field engineering strongly preferred.
  • Technical support and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Self-starter who works independently from a small satellite office.
  • Strong communication; able to build credibility with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Natural problem solver with curiosity, analytical thinking, and strong organization.
  • CAD/SolidWorks a plus.
