Job description

Join an innovative and entrepreneurial-driven company that employs a variety of professionals, including architects, engineers, and construction management professionals, to address construction from a unique, integrated perspective. We adopt a collaborative approach to construction, aligning design, engineering, and execution under one roof. We thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and are looking for a driven, detail-oriented professional to join our team.

We are seeking an energetic and technically minded Field Engineer with a passion for on-site execution and project controls. This role blends hands-on field engineering and site oversight with essential project management support, reporting directly to Method Builders’ Construction Manager.

You will serve as the eyes and ears on the ground, ensuring field operations align precisely with approved plans, engineering specifications, and project schedules. You will collaborate daily with our in-house design and engineering teams, municipal inspectors, and trade partners.

Typical projects range from high-end custom single-family residences to mid-size, multi-family and mixed-use wood-frame developments. This is an ideal position for an early career candidate eager to master both field supervision and project controls within a growth driven platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Engineering & Daily Site Oversight:
  • Conduct daily on-site inspections to verify work quality, schedule progression, and adherence to architectural and structural plans.
  • Identify field discrepancies, constructability issues, and layout conflicts early; coordinate solutions directly with the Construction Manager and in-house architects/engineers.
  • Lead site security, safety, cleanliness, quality control checklists, and staging logistics across active job sites.
  • Trade Partner & Subcontractor Coordination:
  • Assist in day-to-day trade coordination, site logistics, and look-ahead scheduling to ensure subcontractors stay on track and meet quality benchmarks.
  • Monitor deliveries, verify material quantities and specifications against approved submittals, and track field labor.
  • Project Administration & Controls:
  • Manage and process RFIs, submittals, daily field logs, and change order documentation.
  • Assist the Construction Manager with cost tracking, invoice verification against field progress, and draw documentation.
  • Maintain up-to-date project documentation in the cloud management system.
  • Inspections & Regulatory Compliance:
  • Coordinate and walk municipal building inspections, architect/engineering observations, and special testing inspections.
  • Ensure full compliance with local building codes, construction details, and safety regulations.
  • Cross-Functional Communication:
  • Serve as an active conduit between field trades, in-house architects/engineers, and the Construction Manager to resolve questions rapidly.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Architectural Engineering, Building Science, or equivalent practical field experience.
  • Experience: 0 to 4 years of hands-on experience in residential or commercial construction.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, MEP drawings, and civil site plans.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, framing details, load paths, and construction sequencing.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (such as Buildertrend, Procore, or similar) and standard office software.
Key Attributes
  • Proactive problem solver with high attention to details.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the confidence to direct trades on-site.
  • Valid driver’s license to travel daily between job sites.
  • Spanish speaking a plus.
What We Offer
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience.
  • Performance and merit-based bonuses.
  • Direct mentorship from experienced team with clear pathways for rapid career advancement into full Project Management.
  • A collaborative, multidisciplinary work environment where your ideas and field observations directly impact project success.
