Job summary

Comet Cloud in Dallas is seeking an on-site hardware Field Engineer to install, configure, and maintain production-grade GPU clusters and related data center hardware.

You will work on the floor, perform safe component replacements, support remote engineers, and grow into deployment leads and systems engineers as the fleet expands. This role requires hands-on hardware experience, knowledge of Linux, networking basics, and a passion for reliable, safe change management.

Qualifications

• Experience with break/fix on production systems.
• Hands-on deployment and maintenance of hardware.
• Familiar with change-control processes.

Job description

Most jobs make you choose: install crew or operations. Here you do both. When a new cluster lands, you're racking, cabling, and connecting nodes on the deployment team. When it's in production, you're the on-site engineer: swapping components safely under change control, running smart-hands for our remote engineers, and knowing your data center's ins and outs better than anyone.

This role is for you if

• You'd rather be on the floor with the hardware than watching it through a dashboard.
• You've done break/fix on production systems and understand why "safely" is the most important word in "replace things safely."
• You have the basics (Linux, IP networking, BIOS/BMC) and want to go deep on GPU clusters, InfiniBand, and liquid cooling.
• You want a clear growth path: our field engineers become deployment leads and systems engineers.
