Job summary

Erthos is seeking an entry-level Field Engineer I to support construction execution on utility-scale Earth Mount Solar projects across the U.S. The role is field-based, reporting to the Senior Manager of Project Engineering, with travel up to 100% during active construction.

Ideal candidates are recent engineering graduates excited about field execution, quality, documentation, and hands-on construction support. When not on-site, remote work is allowed from anywhere in the continental U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field) or equivalent construction/solar experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail when evaluating technical solutions.
  • Effective communicator with ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Team oriented and highly collaborative with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, electrical single-lines, and engineering specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and expedite engineering inspections, RFIs, Observations, and as-built redlines to support schedules and contractual requirements.
  • Translate project requirements into field execution while maintaining scope, budget, and quality.
  • Conduct First-Article-Inspections with construction team to document installation procedures and quality.
  • Coordinate with construction surveyor to ensure accurate survey staking and as-built records.
  • Promote site safety and report unsafe acts or non-compliance issues.
  • Support testing, QA/QC inspections, and commissioning activities to meet design performance.
  • May obtain FAA drone pilot license for drone flights (Erthos paid costs).
  • Participate in client meetings, engineering reviews, and field coordination discussions.
  • Assist with project closeout documentation.

Position Summary

If you are a recent graduate with a degree in Engineering (mechanical, civil, chemical, structural, etc.), open to traveling to and working on solar project sites, and looking to start a career in utility scale solar construction, this may be the position for you!We are searching for a highly personable entry-level Field Engineer I who is eager to learn and support construction execution on utility-scale Earth Mount Solar™ projects.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Project Engineering, this role is primarily field-based and focused on construction support, including site inspections, RFIs, field observations, drawing markups for as-builts, documentation support, and coordination with construction and engineering teams.

You will assist with verifying that work in the field aligns with project drawings, specifications, installation standards, and quality expectations. This role supports construction and commissioning activities and is not intended to lead design development, project engineering deliverables, or permitting efforts.

Success in this role requires attention to detail, clear communication, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively in an active construction environment. Ideal candidates are early-career engineers with an interest in field execution, quality, documentation, and hands-on construction support.

Candidates must be willing and able to travel up to 100% of the time during active construction assignments to support field engineering, construction documentation, QA/QC, commissioning, and project closeout activities. When not working on-site, your location can be remote, based anywhere in the continental U.S.

Key Responsibilities
Construction Support & Field Documentation:
  • Manage and expedite engineering inspections, RFIs, Observations, and as-built redlines to support project schedules and contractual requirements.

  • Promote a culture of site safety, reporting any unsafe acts or non-compliance issues.
  • Support testing, QA/QC inspections, and commissioning activities, ensuring that system performance meets design expectations.
  • May be required to obtain FAA drone pilot license to operate drone flights (Erthos would pay all related certification costs).
  • Participate in client meetings, engineering reviews, and field coordination discussions.
  • Support all technical aspects of project closeout documentation.
Regulatory & Permitting Compliance:
  • Coordinate with SWPPP Inspector, Civil Engineer, Construction Manager and Project Engineer to resolve sediment and erosion control issues.
  • May be required to obtain various state and local SWPPP Qualified Inspector Certifications (Erthos would pay all related certification costs).
  • Maintain accurate project records, including design change documentation and lessons learned.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering standards, best practices, and templates to drive continuous improvement across projects.

Experience That Will Set You Apart
  • oExperience managing RFIs, permitting documents, and field engineering processes.
  • oWorking knowledge of utility-scale PV system components and construction sequencing.
  • oProficiency with Procore, Bluebeam and other project tools.
  • o1+ years of experience in solar, renewable energy, or commercial construction. Direct, “boots on the ground” field experience is not required but will definitely set you apart.
Location and Travel Requirements

This is a full-time, on-site role with travel required to Erthos construction sites across the U.S. Candidates must be willing and able to travel up to 100% of the time during the construction phase.For field-based roles such as this, which require extended work away from home, Erthos provides reimbursement for reasonable travel expenses associated with eligible monthly trips home, in accordance with our Per Diem and Travel Support Policy.

All candidates must have a valid driver's license with the ability to travel by air and drive as needed to construction sites.

Must be able to work outdoors on active construction sites and at times, in extreme heat.

Compensation and Benefits
  • We are targeting a base salary of approximately $70,000 - $78,000.
  • Per Diem: GSA-rate per diem provided for all days spent on-site.
  • Erthos pays 90% of all medical, dental and vision insurance premiums for its employees and their spouse and children.
