We provide training and advancement paths that allow you to grow your career while delivering essential services to communities that need them most.STG Inc. is a proud subsidiary of Calista Brice, a group of 20+ companies delivering construction, engineering, and environmental solutions across the United States.As the Field Engineer, you will work onsite in Alaska and will support construction projects across rural Alaska by combining hands-on field work with technical project support. Working closely with the Project Manager and Project Foreman, helping ensure work is installed in accordance with plans and specifications, maintains project documentation and QA/QC records, supports safety and environmental compliance, and assists with material procurement and logistics. You will also perform construction labor as part of the crew in extreme Alaskan conditions, including rural locations, camp living, and extended work rotations. This role is a key link between the field and the main office, providing accurate information, records, and feedback to help keep projects safe, efficient, and on schedule.**Essential Functions:*** Maintain first-level quality assurance to confirm work is installed in accordance with drawings, specifications, codes, and industry standards.* Support the Project Foreman and Project Manager with daily, weekly, and monthly project reports and documentation.* Complete required field submittals such as drill logs, pile driving logs, installation records, pressure test forms, and similar project-specific documentation.* Maintain a daily diary of project activities, including photographs and video logs as required.* Assist in the development and maintenance of project plans, including timelines, phases, and activities using Critical Path Management techniques and company-designated software.* Keep Project Management informed of changing field conditions and changed work to support timely setup of tracking codes and change order implementation.* Assist with project estimating and the preparation of quantities or field input for estimates as directed.* Identify and document field issues or interface conflicts and propose potential solutions to the Project Manager and Project Foreman.* Determine materials needed to support field activities and communicate procurement needs to the office.* Monitor material procurement and delivery to ensure timeliness and suitability for project needs.* Receive, track, and expedite incoming and outgoing freight from the project site.* Assist with project health, safety, and environmental requirements in alignment with company policies and site plans.* Learn and assist with the development and implementation of company compliance plans, including Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and administer site SWPPP requirements as directed.* Work safely at all times, maintain situational awareness, and support a strong safety culture.* Perform construction labor as part of the crew, including climbing, lifting, carrying, balancing, walking on uneven surfaces, stooping, and handling materials.* Assist the Project Foreman in supporting the hiring of local labor in accordance with the company’s Local Hire Policy, including basic follow-up to ensure required paperwork is submitted to Human Resources.* Maintain and organize the field office and site documentation areas.* Assist with written correspondence and communication as needed.* Maintain consistent and punctual attendance in accordance with project schedules.* Coordinate travel (such as air reservations and charters) as needed to support project logistics.* Support coordination of complex air travel, including charters to rural Alaska locations.* Report incidents or situations that may impact the company’s ability to operate safely, ethically, or profitably to the Risk Manager.* Apply a versatile construction skill set to assist other trades and disciplines as project needs require.* Serve informally as a team lead in the field when directed.* Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.* Perform other duties as assigned.**Supervisory Functions:**This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:*** Broad understanding of construction materials, methods, terminology, and practices used in field operations.* Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint, along with the ability to use project scheduling and tracking software.* Ability to use digital devices (tablets, cameras, laptops) for documentation, photos, video logs, and reporting.* Ability to complete field logs, test records, daily reports, and other QA/QC documentation accurately and on time.* Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with supervisors, crew members, office staff, and clients.* Ability to work effectively as part of a field crew, take directions from supervisors, and support team goals.* High level of accuracy in following plans, specifications, safety rules, and documentation requirements.* Ability to recognize field issues, gather information, and propose practical solutions for review by Project Management.* Able to work productively under pressure, adjust to changing conditions, and perform in rural, harsh environments.* Strong self-motivation and the ability to work with limited direct supervision while meeting expectations.* Willingness and ability to travel to rural locations, live in shared camp conditions, and work extended shifts for multiple weeks at a time.* Ability to read and interpret safety rules, regulations, instruction manuals, blueprints, and specifications.* Ability to participate in and occasionally facilitate group meetings in person or by phone.* Ability to operate motor vehicles safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies.**Minimum Qualifications:*** High School Diploma or equivalent required.* One (1) or more years of construction-related field or project experience required.* Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and basic project or scheduling software required.* Willingness and ability to travel to rural locations and live in camp or shared accommodation for extended durations (up to 100% travel) is required.* Valid state driver’s license and must be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Company’s Driving Policy.* Ability to pass a drug, driving and background
