Job summary

East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking a Weatherization Energy Auditor in East Providence, RI. The role involves leading field-based energy assessments for Rhode Island homes, evaluating performance, and educating residents on energy-saving practices.

The position supports the Weatherization Program, guiding projects from assessment through documentation while ensuring compliance with program requirements. Independent fieldwork with collaborative team support is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in building science, HVAC, construction trades or related field.
• Ability to obtain BPI Building Analyst certification within six months of hire.
• Ability to obtain Lead Renovator Certification (RRP) within six months of hire.
• OSHA 10 certification prior to conducting independent energy audits.
• Valid Rhode Island driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed residential energy audits using diagnostic tools and testing methods.
• Evaluate insulation, heating/cooling systems, air leakage and building performance.
• Perform safety inspections including combustion safety testing and CO assessment.
• Identify health and safety concerns and recommend corrective actions.
• Apply BPI standards and RI weatherization requirements.
• Manage caseload and coordinate audit schedules to meet goals.
• Prepare audit reports, work orders and client records.
• Verify program eligibility and maintain compliant files.
• Ensure weatherization recommendations remain within program guidelines.
• Enter and maintain data in program management systems.
