Job summary

Swarm Aero is seeking a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to embed with U.S. government and military customers and take ownership of our C2 systems in the field. You will deploy in real operational contexts across domestic and international deployments, including austere locations and high-stakes timelines.

This role involves building critical integrations, debugging complex distributed systems, and delivering field-ready software that directly supports warfighters and government operators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python, C/C++, Golang, or Java.
• Networking fundamentals: NAT, DNS/mDNS, UDP/TCP, multicast, firewall.
• Linux system administration and shell scripting.
• Strong debugging across complex software systems.
• Excellent communication for government and internal teams.
• Willingness to travel 60% domestically and internationally.
• Eligible for U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Build and own integrations bringing C2 systems to life in customer environments.
• Debug distributed field systems and analyze logs and network traffic.
• Contribute to core service development with field insights.
• Write code daily across the full stack and build monitoring solutions.
• Support continuous operational environments and on-call response.
• Travel domestically and internationally up to 75% for tests and deployments.
• Collaborate with U.S. military program offices on-site and remotely.
