Job summary

Swarm Aero is seeking a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to embed with U.S. government and military customers, owning the technical success of our C2 systems in the field.

You will work across diverse hardware configurations, with austere locations and high-stakes timelines, delivering software that operates in real-world environments. The role involves building integrations, debugging distributed systems, and shipping field-ready improvements that directly impact mission outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/SE or related technical field.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in at least one major programming language (Python, C/C++, Go, or Java).
• Strong networking fundamentals and Linux scripting.
• Willingness to travel 60%+ and obtain/maintain a Secret clearance.
• Excellent communication with government customers and teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and own critical software integrations in customer environments from deployment through production reliability.
• Debug complex distributed systems in the field, analyzing logs and network traffic.
• Contribute to core service development and ship field-relevant improvements.
• Write code daily across the full stack and build monitoring/reliability solutions for the field.
• Support continuous operational environments, including on-call and rotation coverage.
• Travel domestically and internationally (up to 75%) to test sites and customer locations.
• Collaborate with U.S. military program offices on-site and remotely.
