Job summary

BRINC seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed onsite with our most critical customers, owning their success in the field. You will install BRINC drone systems, manage live flights, triage issues across hardware, firmware, and software, and deliver fixes on-site, serving as the link between customers and BRINC engineering.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in software engineering, field engineering, systems engineering, or technical support of complex hardware systems.
• Experience troubleshooting complex hardware, firmware, and software systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain FAA Part 107 license and currency certifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to travel 90%+, including multi-week deployments and regular Seattle HQ visits.

Responsibilities

• Deploy onsite for multi-week engagements to install, configure, and commission BRINC drones and LiveOps software.
• Support live operational flights with contingencies and debriefs with customer personnel and BRINC teams.
• Troubleshoot field issues across hardware, firmware, software, networking, and RF to root cause.
• Write, test, and deploy code and configuration changes; upstream fixes to mainline product.
• Serve as technical liaison between customer and HQ engineering to translate field observations into bugs and features.
• Rotate back to Seattle HQ to validate features with embedded, perception, controls, test, and manufacturing engineers.
• Maintain deep technical expertise and flying proficiency; hold FAA Part 107 license with recurrent training.
• Document issues, contribute to knowledge bases, and assist training materials and runbooks.
• Participate in after-hours support rotations to ensure 24/7/365 coverage.
