Job summary

BRINC is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed onsite with our most critical customers and own their success in the field. You will install and commission BRINC’s end-to-end drone systems and live 911 response operations, triage issues across hardware, firmware and software, and implement fixes on-site.

This role is a hybrid of software engineering, technical support, and product expertise, with upwards of 90% travel including multi‑week deployments and regular trips to BRINC’s Seattle

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in software engineering, field engineering, systems engineering, or technical support of complex hardware systems.
• Troubleshooting across hardware, firmware, and software.
• Ability to obtain and maintain FAA Part 107 license and currency certifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for engineering teams and stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel up to 90% including multi-week deployments and regular trips to Seattle.

Responsibilities

• Deploy onsite for multi-week engagements to install, configure, and commission BRINC drones, nests, controllers, and LiveOps software.
• Support live operational flights with testing, briefings, and debriefs with customer staff.
• Triage and debug issues across hardware, firmware, software, networking, and RF, driving root cause under time pressure.
• Write, test, and deploy code and configuration changes; upstream to mainline product.
• Serve as primary technical liaison between customer and HQ engineering; translate field observations into bug reports and requirements.
• Rotate back to Seattle HQ to work with embedded, perception, controls, test, and manufacturing engineers; validate new features in field.
