Job summary

TransCore in Fairfield, CA is hiring a Maintenance Technician I for on-site work. You will perform installation, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of a range of electronic and communications equipment, ensuring uptime and accurate documentation.

The role requires 3–5 years in electronics maintenance, a valid driver's license, and comfort with heights above 50 ft. You will troubleshoot, repair, and test hardware and software, and participate in field support as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 3–5 years electronics maintenance, toll maintenance and bench repair experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing.
• Comfortable working at heights above 50 ft.
• Familiarity with basic electrical or networking concepts.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
• Experience with hand tools and small electronic components.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair equipment including Windows/Linux hardware, surveillance, radar/LIDAR, networking, and wireless/radio components.
• Prepare reports and logs; communicate across shifts per policy.
• Respond to maintenance requests or alarms within defined timeframes.
• Diagnose and repair hardware, software, and system issues.
• Document system status accurately and completely.
• Restore equipment to operation as quickly as possible.
• Swap modules or PC boards as needed.
• Isolate faults in units or components.
• Field-test units and components.
• Maintain spare equipment and parts per guidelines.
