Job summary

The University of Texas at El Paso is seeking an on-site Facilities Technician to install, repair, and inspect electronic components, fire alarm panels, and access control systems, ensuring safety and reliability.

The role supports emergency services, conducts preventative maintenance, coordinates with other trades, maintains records, and may lead teams from start to finish. A valid driver’s license and an associate degree or equivalent are required.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school.
• Three years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of Fire Alarm Panels, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, NFPA 72 Fire Alarm Codes.

Responsibilities

• Installs, repairs and inspects electronic components.
• Performs emergency services and schedules preventative maintenance on fire alarm panels and devices.
• Maintains electronic access control systems and peripheral devices.
• Tests, diagnoses and repairs faulty equipment per specifications.
• Coordinates with other trades and may lead projects end-to-end.
• Maintains records of repairs, calibrations and tests.
